I don’t know about you, but I seem to be at the supermarket
almost every day. I try my hardest to plan for the week and have some meal
ideas in my head when I go, but I still seem to be at that check out being
asked for my loyalty card at least 3 times a week . I am very lucky to have two
large supermarkets at the end of my street, although convenient, this makes me
even less organised.
Recently, my kids have been asking if we can go to Aldi as
they are fascinated by the lines of people that they regularly see out the
front for the weekly specials. I try my hardest to avoid going to the
supermarket with my kids as I will inevitably leave with a whole heap of stuff
I didn’t need, and my stress levels will be through the roof. So the other day
I ventured into Aldi for the first time
by myself.
Firstly, there is a
whole heap of brands that I don’t know, so I dipped my toe in the Aldi water by
buying some cleaning stuff and some kids lunchbox snacks.
The next thing about Aldi that no-one warned me about is the
checkout. They do not pack your purchases in a bag for you, nor do they even
have an area at the end of the checkout for you to do this, you have to just
brace yourself and try and keep up with the checkout operator. My friends and I were laughing about this the
other day as one told me she treats it like a sport and said “they will not
beat me!!!”
I had a lovely customer email me yesterday with some
feedback on how useful she finds my Project Ten Tote Bags.
“I take my black and white chevron oversized
tote swimming every week ( it holds 5-6
towels, shampoo, conditioner, hair brush, clothes for three people, shoes for
three people, snacks, goggles, bathers for three people, purse, phone , keys,
drink bottles and there's still room for more) love it!
I have also started using it at Aldi to, it's
so much easier to put it all in the tote at the register and pick it up and put
it in the car.” Sarah H
What a
GENIUS IDEA! I see all these people dump all their stuff in their trolley and
then proceed to go and pack it into lots of small bags to put into the car. I
am going to try this next time I go to Aldi (Just don’t try this with a trolley
load of heavy groceries – you will never be able to lift it!)
Happy
Shopping!
